Quantum percolation in magnetic fields.

چکیده
A generalized average inverse participation ratio, for the one-electron wave functions of a dilute tight-binding model on a d-dimensional hypercubic lattice, is studied at finite magnetic fields. Extended wave functions appear above a quantum threshold bond concentration, pq. This threshold decreases at small magnetic fields, and shows a periodic dependence on the magnetic flux through a basic plaquette, with period φ0=ħc/e. Extended states appear and disappear periodically even at d=2. Search for a vortex loop blowout transition in a type-II superconductor in a finite magnetic field
The three-dimensional uniformly frustrated XY model is simulated to search for a predicted ‘‘vortex loop’’ transition within the vortex line liquid phase of a strongly type-II superconductor in an applied magnetic field. Results are shown to strongly depend on the precise scheme used to trace out vortex line paths. While we find evidence for a transverse vortex path percolation transition, no s...
متن کاملField theory of Ising percolating clusters Gesualdo Delfino
The clusters of up spins of a two-dimensional Ising ferromagnet undergo a second order percolative transition at temperatures above the Curie point. We show that in the scaling limit the percolation threshold is described by an integrable field theory and identify the nonperturbative mechanism which allows the percolative transition in absence of thermodynamic singularities. The analysis is ext...

We investigate the generation of large scale magnetic fields in the universe from quantum fluctuations that are produced in the inflationary stage. By coupling these quantum fluctuations to the dilaton field and Ricci scalar, we show that the magnetic fields with the strength observed today can be produced. We consider two situations. First, the evolution of dilaton ends by starting the reheat...

In recent years, semiconductor nanostructures have become the model systems of choice for investigation of electrical conduction on short length scales. Quantum transport is studied in a two dimensional electron gas because of the combination of a large Fermi wavelength and large mean free path. In the present work, a numerical method is implemented in order to contribute to the understanding ...
متن کاملThe Random Network Model for the Quantum Hall Effect and its Ramifications
The percolation model for electrons in spatial dimension two in a strong perpendicular magnetic field in a spatially correlated random potential is introduced. An overview of the random network model introduced by Chalker and Coddington, and its generalizations, is provided. Based on the ingredients of percolation and quantum tunneling the model is explained. Its localization properties and its...
